Students are admitted in the following specialties:
1. instrumental training - piano, violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, slide-trombon, horn, tuba, percussion, harp, classical guitar, accordion, saxophone;
2. traditional instruments - flute, bagpipe, mandolin, fiddle;
3. vocal training - classical singing, folk singing, pop and jazz singing.
In the years of training the following theoretical subjects are covered: theory of music, harmony, polyphony, basic theory of music, history of music, musical analysis, Bulgarian folk music, knowledge of instruments. The general education training is conducted under a program approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Bulgaria.
With the completion of class XII students take the state matriculation exams and receive a certificate of secondary education and vocational training certificate – 3rd degree, in the professions of musician-instrumentalist and singer-musician.
The Certificate of secondary education, issued by the school is valid worldwide and is a proof for high qualifications and expertise. Foreigners can be trained in the National School of Music “L. Pipkov” after successfully passing an entrance examination, by paying a tuition fee which is specified under paragraph 4, subparagraph 3 of the Supplementary Provisions of the Education Act.
